You know what we do. It’s important to also know what we don’t do.

At WHITE KNIGHT pillowCARE, we specialize in the refurbishment of substantially down and down/feather mix bed pillows.

Now that you know what we do, it’s important to also know what we don’t do.

We don’t refurbish substantially down and down/feather mix bed pillows with the following characteristics:

  • Bed pillows that have been contaminated by mold and/or mildew.

AND the contaminating matter has penetrated the outer pillow shell and come into physical contact with the interior fill.

If the mold and/or mildew is confined solely to the outer shell, that's ok.
  • Bed pillows that have been contaminated by human or animal blood, urine, throw up or feces.

AND the contaminating matter has penetrated the outer pillow shell and come into physical contact with the interior fill.

If the blood, urine, throw up or feces is confined solely to the outer shell, that's ok.
  • Bed pillows that have been washed at home, at a laundromat, by a dry cleaner or by a “pillow refurbishment” service.

AND the the interior fill has been transformed into a tangled, smelly mess.

Unfortunately, we probably cannot undo the damage to the fill and save the pillow.
  • Bed pillows that have been dry cleaned in a dry cleaning solvent by a dry cleaner.

    AND, as
a result, the interior fill has lost its ability to loft (i.e., the fill does not rise after downward pressure on the fill is released).

Unfortunately, we probably cannot undo the damage to the “loft” and save the pillow.

We don’t refurbish bed pillows that contain materials other than goose down, duck down, goose feathers and duck feathers, such as:

  • Bed pillows that contain land fowl fills such as chicken and/or turkey feathers (geese and ducks are water fowl; chicken and turkeys are land fowl).
  • Bed pillows that contain natural fills (other than goose and duck down or feather) such as cotton, wool, silk and buckwheat husks.
  • Bed pillows that contain synthetic fills such as polyester (gel, fiber, puffs, chips, etc.), latex, memory foam, memory fiber, microfiber, polystyrene micro beads or any other products commonly called “down alternatives”.
  • Bed pillows that contain a mix of down and other fibers such as polyester, cotton, wool and silk.
  • Bed pillows that contain a mix of unknown farm-related materials such as ground up corn, ground up corn cobs, straw and land fowl feathers.

We don’t refurbish some pillows found inside sofa and armchair cushion covers

Most sofas and arm chairs have zippered or un-zippered cushion covers. Open the cushion cover and you'll see a filling that's either foam or feathers. On a rare occasion, the filling is down.

If the interior of your cushion covers is stuffed with feathers, those feathers are, almost always, contained within a "pillow".

The problem is that, more often than not, the fabric used to construct the pillow shells used in cushion covers is not feather proof. So they "leak" feathers. Quite often, those feathers either protrude through the cushion cover or become embedded in the weave of the fabric used to construct the cushion cover.

So clients either bring in or send in these feather-filled pillows to be cleaned and refurbished.

At WHITE KNIGHT pillowCARE, we refurbish pillows found inside sofa and armchair cushion covers if:

  • the outer shells are standard sizes (standard sizes are 20 x 26, 20 x 30, 20 x 36, 26 x 26 or 12 x 16)

    OR
  • the outer shells are non-standard sizes but we can easily adjust those standard sizes to the size of your sofa and arm chair pillow shells

    AND
  • the client requests cleaning of the sofa and armchair cushion covers as well.

We do not refurbish sofa and armchair upholstery cushions where the interior fill is loose and is not self-contained within a pillow shell.

Why?

Because a significant amount of labor is required to remove all the loose feathers that are, in all probability, deeply embedded in the fabric on the inside of the cushion covers.

Please note the additional charges associated with sofa and armchair cushion covers:

  • There is an additional charge for cleaning cushion cover. That charge ranges from
5 to 10 cents per square inch depending on size of the cushion cover and quantity of cushion covers that are identical in color and fabric.
  • There is an additional sewing charge for opening and closing the cushion cover if the cushion cover does not have a zipper. That charge ranges from $25.00 to $35.00 per cushion cover depending on size and quantity.
  • One way to eliminate the sewing charge on the next occasion you clean the interior pillows of your cushion covers is to add a zipper at this time. The charge to add a zipper instead of re-sewing the opening in your cushion cover ranges from $50.00 to $100.00 per cushion cover for zippers up to 36” long.
  • If the zippers required are longer than 36” or two zippers are required because of the size of the cushion cover, we can quote that on a case by case basis.

"I sent 2 pillows in questionable condition to White Knight/Rave Fabricare to be restored and new down added. I was blown away at their efficiency and meticulous care. Stu contacted me personally about the restoration, price and return of my pillows. So glad I didn't wash or dry clean my pillows which were returned to me in better than new condition! White Knight/Rave Fabricare is the most outstanding professional business I have ever had the pleasure of working with."
